Yae Miko is a 5-star Electro Catalyst character who has been part of Genshin Impact since Version 2.5 during the Traveler's journey through Inazuma. Miko without constellations is often compared to Fischl, when in reality, Miko and Fischl are often played together. Both excel in off-field "turret" damage, but as a 5-star unit, Miko has an exceptionally powerful Burst, whereas Fischl can only resummon Oz, her source of off-field damage. This guide to the best Genshin Impact Yae Miko build will explain the best weapons, artifact sets, constellations, and team compositions for Miko.

How to Get Yae Miko in Genshin Impact

Yae Miko first debuted on the limited-time banner in patch 2.5, but has since had reruns of her banner and will likely have more in the future. The only option for getting her is to wait and save primogems for her.

Genshin Yae Miko Gameplay Overview

  • Element:Electro
  • Weapon:Catalyst
  • Rarity:5-star

Miko is an off-field DPS who demands more field time than typical off-field units. When using her Elemental Burst every rotation and keeping her fox spirit turrets up, Yae Miko approaches the field time of an on-field DPS. This is mainly because Miko needs to use her skill three consecutive times for maximum power, then after Bursting, use them three additional times. Each instance of three uses takes a total of about two seconds.

When you add in character swapping, Burst animations, and downtime mid-combat (such as getting hit), she takes 6-8 seconds on-field per rotation (a rotation is a series of Normal Attack, Skill, Burst, and character swap inputs in a particular order within a certain span of time, often between 20-25 seconds, that can be repeated for maximum DPS output).

Miko can be played in a variety of ways, but since Dendro's release, she is best suited in teams dedicated to Quicken and occasionally Hyperbloom reactions, as the new element gave most Electro characters a sizeable buff.

For more info regarding elemental reactions, check out the Comprehensive Guide to Elemental Reactions.

Aside from this, Miko could be played without focusing on reactions to a comparable level of competence when buffed with characters like Kujou Sara, Kazuha, and Bennett.

Despite Miko being an off-field character, it helps to give her some kind of interruption resistance if there's room for this on the team, since Miko is vulnerable during each use of her Skill, and she'll be using her Skill plenty.

While you can play Miko as an on-field driver (a Normal Attacking unit who triggers teammates' talents which synchronize with Normal Attacks), there are two main ways to build her.

  • Bursting Every Rotation
  • Bursting Every Other Rotation

advertisem*nt

Frankly, Miko's energy requirements are massive if you intend to burst every rotation: above 200% without an Electro unit who provides substantial energy to the team. There are only two "batteries" in Electro that adequately serve this function: her canon companion, the Raiden Shogun, and Fischl. If Miko has an Electro battery on the team, she can comfortably Burst every rotation with 160% Energy Recharge. If you do not want to feel restricted with team compositions, opting to Burst every other rotation is recommended.

All this said, Yae Miko is usually best if you have Fischl (ideally with all her Constellations) or Raiden Shogun (a limited-access archon) on your account before acquiring her. Luckily, Fischl has several free ways to acquire her, such as Paimon's Bargains.

Genshin Yae Miko Talents and Attack Combos

Your talent-leveling priority should be: Skill >= Burst > Normal Attack.

Miko's Normal Attacks deal Electro damage and apply Electro to an enemy once every three hits or two seconds (whichever occurs first), giving her Normal Attacks "Standard Internal Cooldown (ICD)" for elemental application. All Catalyst-wielders have this effect on their Normal Attacks. Because of this, attacking on-field with Yae Miko can sometimes lead to greater DPS when the Quicken reaction is applied to enemies.

Miko's Skill has three charges, each with a 4-second cooldown. Each use summons a fox totem (i.e. a turret) that periodically hits a random enemy within its range periodically while moving Miko in a certain direction. However, you will only get the most damage out of her skill when you place three totems close to each other (often a triangle formation). Each totem that's connected to another "levels up" the power and damage potential. If you do not Burst every rotation, you'll need to refresh these totems about every 14 seconds.

Miko's Burst deals up to four powerful instances of Electro damage in the forms of enormous lightning bolts: one plus one for each turret that was active as she uses her Burst. When equipping the 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate (a great set for focusing on her Burst damage and a good source of Energy Recharge), a C0 Miko can deal anywhere between 70k and 100k damage per Burst bolt. The totems are consumed at the time of her Burst, meaning you'll need to resummon them.

The biggest drawback, aside from energy requirements, is its long cooldown of 22 seconds. This will typically stretch team rotations to at least 22 seconds, but usually closer to 24 seconds. The longer a team's rotation is, the less a team's DPS is (usually). This means long rotations needs exceptionally strong characters to compensate for time. This is another reason why Bursting every other rotation may be preferable, as without her Burst, rotations can be much shorter.

Next, come her passives. Her first ascension passive resets the cooldown of all instances of her Skill upon using her Burst, so she can redeploy turrets right away before switching off for the next character. This is a surprisingly essential ascension passive.

Miko's fourth Ascension Passive adds modest Elemental Mastery scaling to her Skill damage. Before Dendro, this was a wasted passive, but because Aggravate (the Electro reaction during Quicken) scales off of both ATK and EM, this becomes much more useful in Quicken teams.

Finally, Miko's exploration passive can occasionally refund talent book materials.

For her combos, her time on field when Bursting every rotation is as such:

  1. Use Miko's Burst and immediately resummon her totems via her Skill
  2. Switch to other party members

When not using her Burst every rotation, simply refresh her turrets as they fade, so they are always available, and Burst when her energy tank is full.

Genshin Yae Miko Constellation Analysis

5-Star constellations are expensive and rare, so it is only recommended to use primogems for them if they're your favorite character. Once she has all 6 constellations, Miko's damage potential doubles.

Constellation NameAbbreviated In-Game DescriptionNotes
C1. Yakan OfferingEach timeMiko's Skillactivates a Burst bolt from a turret, Yae Miko will restore 8 Elemental Energy for herself.24 Energy (8 x 3 thunderbolts) is an absolutely massive quality-of-life upgrade. This can help her Burst every rotation without a battery (as long as you keep her at 160%+ ER) and allows you to invest more into her damaging stats. A must-have for maximum team flexibility.
C2. Fox's MooncallTotemsstart at "Level 2" when created, their max level is increased to 4, and their attack range is increased by 60%.Quite decent, but not the massive quality-of-life update that C1 provides.
C3. The Seven GlamoursIncrease Skill talent level by 3.Miko's Skill is her main source of damage in most scenarios, so this is reasonably strong.
C4. Sakura ChannelingWhenSesshou Sakuralightning hits opponents, theElectro DMG Bonusof all nearby party members is increased by 20% for 5s.A typical DMG% Goblet will give 46.6% Elemental DMG. Think of this constellation as stapling half of one on your entire team. It's good, but definitely not worth all the constellations you need to acquire along the way.
C5. Mischievous TeasingIncreases Burst talent level by 3.Valuable when Bursting every rotation, but much, much less valuable when not.
C6. Forbidden Art: DaisesshouThe Sesshou Sakura'sattacks will ignore 60% of the opponents' DEF.Incredible. Defense Ignore is often better than shredding enemy DEF. Raiden Shogun's C2 also ignores DEF, and it's one of the strongest constellations in Genshin Impact. Miko's Skill becomes so powerful, you can slap a shield on her and stand still as enemies get blown up by her turrets.

Genshin Yae Miko's Best Weapons

Miko mainly cares about CRIT, ATK, EM, and whe Bursting every rotation, Energy Recharge. While not all weapons are listed, keep in mind as a rule of thumb that many 5-star options outperform all 4-star options on most characters as long as you keep the stats each character appreciates in mind.

Weapon NameAbbreviated In-Game DescriptionNotes
Kagura's Verity

66.2% CRIT DMG

When using an Elemental Skill, Elemental Skill DMG of the character wielding this weapon increases by12%for 16s. Max 3 stacks. This character will gain12%All Elemental DMG Bonus when they possess 3 stacks.Best Limited Banner Option.
With a 3-use Skill and an appreciation for CRIT stats, this is by far Miko's best weapon choice. It's tailor made for her!
Skyward Atlas

33.1% ATK

Increases Elemental DMG Bonus by12%. Normal Attack hits have a 50% chance to earn the favor of the clouds, which actively seek out nearby opponents to attack for 15s, dealing160%ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 30s.Best Standard Banner Option.
Occasionally Miko might appreciate using an Elemental Mastery Sands instead of ATK%. Skyward Atlas offers plenty of ATK% to compensate for this, and even with an ATK% Sands, Atlas pulls its weight as long as you can get good CRIT substats on artifacts. Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds is a fine CRIT-based back-up option.
Oathsworn Eye (R5)

27.6% ATK

Increases Energy Recharge by48%for 10s after using an Elemental Skill.Best 4-Star for Bursting Every Rotation.

This weapon is locked behind a limited time event, meaning if you missed it, you likely will not get another chance at the weapon. However, if you do have this weapon, it mostly solves Miko's energy needs by itself, so long as you have an Electro battery still.
The Widsith

55.1% CRIT DMG

When the character takes the field, they will gain a random theme song for 10s. This can only occur once every 30s. Recitative: ATK is increased by60-120%. Aria: Increases all Elemental DMG by96%. Interlude: Elemental Mastery is increased by480.Best All-Around 4-Star Option.

This weapon is at its best in Quicken teams, where it places above Oathsworn Eye. This is because there is no "bad" buff Miko can get from the weapon when she has access to Aggravate damage. However, even without reactions in mind, the Widsith is an exceptional weapon for almost any character.
Solar Pearl

27.6% ATK

Normal Attack hits increase Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG by20-40%for 6s. Likewise, Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst hits increase Normal Attack DMG by20-40%for 6s.Battle Pass Option.

Often competes with Widsith. It requires Miko to Normal Attack during rotations, but if you have more refinements on this than your Widsith, it may be worth giving Solar Pearl a chance.
Magic Guide (R5)

187 EM

Increases DMG against opponents affected by Hydro or Electro by24%.Early Game Option for Quicken Teams.

Offers a surprising amount of Elemental Mastery for a 3-star weapon, along with a near-permanent 24% DMG-bonus.
Twin Nephrite (R5)

15.6% CRIT Rate

Defeating an opponent increases Movement SPD and ATK by20%for 15s.General Purpose Early Game Option.
Offers CRIT Rate and ATK%, which is more than most 3-star weapons can offer.

Genshin Yae Miko's Best Artifacts

  • Sands: Elemental Mastery / ATK% / Energy Recharge (based on build needs)
  • Goblet: Electro DMG%
  • Circlet: CRIT

As with most characters who focus on CRIT stats, it is best to aim for a 1;2 ratio of C.Rate/D.Damage. 75;150 (the sweet spot for CRIT) is a better ratio than 50;200.

There is no single 4pc artifact set that is universally best for Miko. Often, the easiest choice is a 2pc Electro DMG% set (Thundering Fury) paired with any 2pc ATK% set.

However, if you have better substats you can use 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate if Miko Bursts every rotation, or 4pc Gilded Dreams if you only plan to use her in Dendro teams.

Because of this, no table is needed to show priorities.

Genshin Yae Miko's Best Teams

Yae Miko is so flexible that she works in almost any team you can throw her in, but here are some of her most effective options.

Quicken/Aggravate/Spread

These teams took Miko from an B-tier character to an A-tier character the moment the Dendro element was introduced. This team also maximizes Fischl's damage potential, who also doubles as an excellent battery for Miko and allows Miko to Burst every rotation.

Anemo characters wielding 4pc Viridescent Venerer can reduce enemy Electro resistance, which further amplifies Electro damage. If using two Dendro characters, the flex slot can be dedicated towards a healer, on-field DPS, or whatever else your team needs. Just make sure your Dendro character can help sustain Quicken on enemies if you're only using one.

MikoFischl/Electro/DendroDendroDendro/Anemo/Flex

Electro-Charged ("Taser")

Taser teams focus on the sheer amount of instances of minor Electro-Charged damage to melt an enemy's HP bar. This strategy has existed since Genshin Impact's launch and is one of the most free-to-play friendly teams to build.

Typically how the team works is you have a defensive unit, two or more characters that synergize with Normal Attacks, and then character who attacks quickly or deals the most damage when that DPS is using Normal Attacks. An Anemo character equipping 4pc Viridescent Venerer can reduce the resistances of both Hydro and Electro simultaneously, as when an enemy is Electro-Charged, both Electro and Hydro stay applied to the enemy.

The classic 4-star combination is Sucrose as the Anemo driver, Fischl and Beidou as off-field Electro DPS's (though Miko is a Beidou-upgrade in some cases), and Xingqiu as the defensive option and Hydro off-field DPS.

MikoElectro (Fischl for F2P)Hydro (Xingqiu for F2P)Anemo (Sucrose for F2P)

Throw Every Reaction Possible At Once ("Soup" or "Overvape")

By using Miko alongside a Pyro, Hydro, and an optional Anemo unit, you can generate Electro-Charged, Overloaded, and Vaporize reactions constantly at enemies. Elemental Mastery buffs benefit this team quite a bit, but it's not worth building Elemental Mastery on the characters.

Usually in these teams, your on-field driver is either Hydro or Pyro, so pick a character from these two elements that specializes in on-field Normal Attacks. Ayato, Hu Tao, and Yoimiya are excellent driver choices.

MikoPyroHydro Flex or Anemo

Raiden Shogun Teams

Miko was designed to work with her canon companion, the Raiden Shogun. In these teams, Raiden is the On-Field DPS, Miko is the Off-Field DPS, and the other two characters provide reactions, buff your Electro couple, or debuff your enemies by shredding resistances (Anemo characters with Viridescent Venerer or Zhongli). Nearly every Raiden team focusing on raw damage uses Bennet, a highly contested support due to his astronomical team-wide ATK buff and healing, and occasionally Xiangling, whose devastating Elemental Burst is funded by Raiden's incredible energy generation.

Specific Teammate Choices

  • Hydro Characters
    • Xingqiu
      • The best 4-star Hydro applicator. His Burst applies Hydro and deals respectable damage in synchonicity with the active character's Normal Attacks and the orbiting swords that act as defensive utility also apply Hydro to enemies when in direct contact.
    • Yelan
      • Mainly best for amplifying teammates DMG% while dealing high HP-scaling damage. Very similar to Xingqiu, but less application and no defensive utility. Yelan is a generically strong character.
    • Ayato
      • An excellent on-field Hydro DPS and driver for characters like Fischl, Beidou, Xingqiu, and Yelan.
    • Kokomi
      • The best Hydro option if you want good healing and Hydro application rolled into one character.
  • Dendro Characters
    • Nahida
      • The best choice for maximizing the damage potential of Dendro-based reactions like Quicken/Spread/Aggravate/Hyperbloom/Burgeon/Bloom. She needs almost no field time and shares EM with the active character.
    • Baizhu
      • A shielder and healer all-in-one for teams focusing on Dendro-based reactions. Offers shields and plenty of healing to the party, all of which enhance reaction damage.
    • Collei
      • Collei is best at supporting Quicken/Aggravate/Spread teams thanks to the duration and cooldown of her Skill allowing her to function well in very short (~15 second) and longer (~25 second) rotations. Collei will usually equip 4pc Tenacity of the Millelith and Elegy for the End, so make sure not to overlap this with Fischl.
    • Kirara
      • A dedicated shielder in Dendro for protecting fragile characters from being interrupted. Especially useful when Yae Miko is also on the team, but she usually doesn't provide enough Dendro application by herself.

advertisem*nt

Electro Characters

    • Keqing
      • The most aggressive quickswap DPS. Originally one of the weakest characters in the game, the introduction of the Dendro element gave her a massive boost in playability due to her rapid Electro application.
    • Raiden Shogun
      • Miko's waifu and a powerful on-field DPS who generates energy for the entire team while using her Burst. She is strong in just about any team needing an Electro On-Field DPS and is best known for her ability to synergize with energy hungry characters like Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett, while also being excellent Hyperbloom and Quicken abusers.
    • Lisa
      • Lisa is free from the beginning of the game and also gained a lot of viability thanks to Quicken being introduced to the game, allowing her to become an on-field DPS or support depending on team needs. Her Burst also shreds enemy defenses -- a very rare debuff. She is usually played on-field for Quicken teams, but can work in either role.
  • Pyro Characters
    • Yoimiya
      • As long as you keep Yoimiya shielded, she is the easiest on-field Pyro DPS to use: just use her Skill and mash her Normal Attack to to deal great damage. Xingqiu or Yelan are essential teammates.
    • Hu Tao
      • While Yoimiya is the easiest on-field Pyro DPS to use, Hu Tao is the most difficult, but it pays off in raw damage output. Xingqiu or Yelan are essential teammates (preferably Xingqiu). Hu Tao also benefits greatly from having a shield.
    • Xiangling
      • The best off-field Pyro DPS and perhaps the best overall off-field DPS in the game. She generates tons of damage and Pyro application without ICD with her energy-hungry Burst. However, she requires Bennett's support to function.
    • Bennett
      • Widely considered to be one of the strongest supports in the game, Bennett provides the party with an enormous Flat ATK buff equal to a percentage of Bennett's ATK (sometimes over 100%). Bennett also heals with his Burst and generates tons of Pyro energy particles with his tapped Skill and its 3-second cooldown. Bennett makes every team that cares about ATK better.
  • Anemo Utility Options (all assumed to be equipping 4pc Viridescent Venerer)
    • Kazuha
      • The best all-around choice for most Anemo needs. Kazuha scales well with EM, provides a huge DMG% buff to teammates depending on what elements he swirls in his Burst, offers good crowd control, and has short cooldowns on his entire kit.
    • Sucrose
      • Sometimes better than Kazuha, depending on the team comp, due to her ability to share a portion of her Elemental Mastery with the team, wield Catalysts known for their support functions, and apply Anemo and Swirl with Normal Attacks. She offers crowd control and energy generation ontop of decent driving capabilities.
    • Venti
      • The Anemo Archon and the god of crowd control. He can buff teammates while equipping Elegy for the End and is an excellent choice against large amounts of enemies.
    • Jean or Sayu
      • These characters fulfil similar roles in their ability to heal as well as Swirl. Jean has special synergy with Bennett, but since Bennett is less needed on these teams, we can argue that their usefulness is equivalent to one another.
